Quotation for Colin
"The assignment in question is really indicative of a larger trend in education and society. First I would like to point out that during the period of work for this project, the instructor was found playing the game "Unreal Tournament 2004" over the school network. The trend that I mention however, is the trend of appeasment. Education is becoming so important in modern society, that people cannot do poorly and still succeed in life. There is thus a greater desire to make things more accessible to the general population, so more people can succeed. Therefore, education is being diluted to the point where it hardly bears the mark of being a misshapen bastard of the orginal concept. One can sum this up on a theoretical level as an inverse relation between masses understanding of what is being taught, and its level of depth and complexity. But if there were more good teachers we probably wouldn't have this problem."
--A. Anderson; my gift to you Colin. I've got to go to state for speech this weekend. Since you're gone next week, let's start our editorial on the following Monday at lunch and/or after school. Does that work for you? Down with CIM, down with waste, down with George W. Bush, and down with HYPOCRISY! I'll never know why people fail to see the light that seeps through the cave opening and onto the wall, and see the metaphorical extra dimension.

god, you guys are obsessing. just because you find a project frustrating for once, you have to go and take this huge stand against it. here's what i say you do: DEAL. jeepers. not everything you disagree with should be abolished. if that were the case, instead of poetry, we'd have binary code. just a bunch ones and zeros where the beauty used to be. you'd like that, WOULDN'T YOU, you dirty rotten art-killers.
Hey man, I'm getting to write basketball previews for solids vs. liquids, design personal ads from 98 degrees members, and make a "Kerry or Bush?" quiz based on Le Chat's principle. Quit whining and have some fun with it!
I actually don't think this paper is as bad as we make it out to be. It's just fun to obsess over something. You people have your fun playing basketball, writing poetry, acting, whatever. Adam and I have our fun obsessing over perceived injustices, even if they do not actually exist. You don't see us criticizing you for doing what you enjoy doing. And in reality, I think we're both coping quite well. I'm actually going to relate someone's state of discontent at this assignment to a phase diagram.
And Adam, I think I'm going to edit the quote down a little bit, as I'm sure you expected. It's good, but just a little too long for my little piece of yellow journalism.
I ended up using this:
"The assignment in question is really indicative of a larger trend in education and society… The trend that I mention … is the trend of appeasement.”
Colin, I truly believe that I am not exaggerating when I speak of this project. All of my statements are made in pure honesty, and I stand by them 100%. It is a true injustice.
Unjust to whom? You? Do you feel that because you may do slightly better on tests than most other people, you deserve assignments that won't challange you?
Unjust to everyone. This assignment does not challenge intellectual and mental factulties as much as a normal test and homework would. Rather, it forces people to be artistically creative in a way which is not useful in the field of chemistry. We're sacrificing learning for grades here, and that is unjust to everyone. It's not as unjust, however, as Mr. Wilson not having truly taught us at all throughout the year--that is the real travesty.
you should really go to my blog and read the article i wrote. it's not very useful i suppose, but it was fun as hell.
Wow. That is hilarious! I'm going to quote it.
