Anyway, I suppose the unit of badness would have a name after an early worker in the field, perhaps Paris, or perhaps Philip. For a more recent take, we could call the unit the Sade. I know S for Second is taken, and P isn't, though.
Now we have to define out unit. Badness is either a fundamental unit (which means we have to add an eigth to the SI system) or a derived unit, but it makes sense to establish the baseline. Is badness measured in money or time needed to repair? Or perhaps it is measured relative to pain? Could the Sade be the amount of pain resulting from the insertion of a 1mm pin to the depth of 1cm? Integrated over time until the closure of the wound? It would seem to be insufficiently fundamental, although the "real" definitions of SI units have at times past involved Water, 3.98C, specific chemical elements, and the circumference of the Earth along the Paris Meridian. Maybe this is wacky enough.
If the Sade is defined this way, and your coding mistake does have a badness of 10,000 Sades, whatever it was was very, very bad. Maybe they were using MilliSades.
