Rousseau
I just wrote a very satisfying analysis of Robespierre's implementation of very unadulterated ideas from Rousseau in the French Revolution. I think that the French Revolution was a pretty faithful implementation of Rousseau, thereby giving good empirical evidence that he was catastrophically wrong in his Social Contract. It is amazing how influential that book became, considering how inconsistent and philosophically trashy it is, at least in my amateur opinion.

Why are you taking philosophy in the first place? And you should see if you can make the comment system work again with LiveJournal usernames.
I'm not taking philosophy. I'm taking the history of european civilization, and I'm doing it because I have to take a year of it in order to graduate.
There is a login option for using LiveJournal accounts. Does it fail?
I get the impression that this class is rather philosophy-heavy, anyways, judging by your past two entries. And yeah, the LiveJournal login fails pretty badly. It gives about a page-long error message, something about missing "XML/Parser.pm." Might want to check that out.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll try and track down the problem this weekend.
